Why playNshare
Small, focused, and honest about how it works.
No sign-up
Open the site and start. A temporary guest session is created for you automatically.
Made for two
Every room holds exactly two people. No strangers, no crowded lobbies.
Real time
Playback commands, moves and dice rolls arrive in a fraction of a second.
Fair by design
Game rules, dice and winners are decided by the server, never by a browser.
Files stay yours
Movies and shared files are not uploaded to or stored on our server.
Nothing to install
Works in a modern browser on desktop. Games and sharing work on mobile too.
Privacy-first architecture
Your video and files go to your friend — not to us.
Video streams and file data travel over encrypted WebRTC connections between the two browsers. Our server only helps the browsers find each other, keeps track of rooms and link status, and referees games.
- Peer-to-peer media and DataChannels, encrypted in transit (DTLS/SRTP).
- The database holds metadata only: room codes, game moves, share status.
- Tokens are random and stored as hashes; files are verified with SHA-256.
- Not a guarantee of anonymity: peers and relays can see network addresses.

Technology, in plain language
Built on open web standards.
WebRTC
The browser technology behind video calls. It carries the movie stream, your camera and the shared files directly between browsers.
Socket.IO
A live two-way connection to the server for room presence, play/pause commands, game moves and connection setup.
STUN & TURN
Helpers that let two browsers find a route to each other, and relay encrypted traffic when no direct route exists.
Server-side rules
Every game move, dice roll and trivia answer is validated on the server, so nobody can cheat by editing their browser.
What it does — and what it doesn’t.
Supported
- Two-person rooms for watching or for one of five games
- Shared play, pause, seek and speed with creator-managed permissions
- Automatic pause and re-sync when someone buffers or disconnects
- Optional camera and microphone for both people
- Complete Chess rules, two-player Ludo, Connect Four, Tic-Tac-Toe, Trivia
- One-time file links with SHA-256 verification, progress and resume
Limitations
- Hosting Watch Together needs a desktop Chromium-based browser or Firefox; Safari cannot host
- Only videos your browser can play; DRM-protected content is not supported
- The video creator and the file sender must keep their tab open
- Restrictive networks need a TURN relay, which the operator must provide
- Very large files depend on the recipient’s browser storage
- A recipient can always keep or forward a file they received

No account, no download. Create a room or a link and send it to one person.
